Back in February we put a blog post titled, “The Humble project” and since then we’ve been working along side with a crew of writers and directors on developing a feature film over at the Mount Hua Studio. It’s still in its early stages of the script development, and still ways to go and lots to learn. With the group of talented individuals we’re almost certain the end results could be something worthwhile. Stay tune for further updates on it’s progress. Until then, thanks for reading!

If you’ve been following our blog since the early beginning, you’ll know that nineoutof10 started off with fashion apparel. Since then we veered far from it and into a production company which has been our main focus currently. Although we no longer specialize in apparel we still have an appreciation for the work and effort that goes into it. So to keep from rambling off, we received an email from our friends over at Custom Junky to assist on a “Runway’ shoot featuring their latest seasonal line up. And without further adieu here’s are the results.

This title is somewhat similar to what we started with, Humble Beginnings. Early Dec of this past year, we were on the search for local Actors and Writers. Amongst the people we got in contact with, we met Mack Wei whom has some awesome work under his belt including the role of Blackfish in Baby, one of our favorites! From our conversations he brought up Mt. Hua Production who was hosting a workshop for the start of the new year inviting anyone involved or interested within the industry of Entertainment. We met another gentlemen, Jimmy Duong, CEO & President of Mt. Hua whom we felt immediately circled around the same movement. We always support back into the community in anyway we can whether it be a day of our time in service or just supporting back within the people who are from this community. Jimmy takes this small ingredient we have, adds additional formulas, applies it and is in the process of creating something extraordinary here.
A new workshop will be hosted at the beginning of every month and a followup to discuss further every week after. So far, we’ve read 3 full length feature scripts from all different writers. Additionally, Jimmy is also hosting a Talent Idols Search Audition. Look forward to seeing you guys there and support your local community.

We head out to beautiful Joshua Tree, CA… honestly the first time we been there and amazed why we never been there before. It’s a different type of nature, a rock climber’s haven. We weren’t appropriately geared for the weather with our Big5 tent with a missing rainfly and some broken support sticks, but we’re men.
Ban and Chris have been my long time buddies since high school. And Tim has been friends with Chris since college. You may also recognize him from our very first entry.
I’ve been tagging along with these guys indoor rock climbing since a recent near summit to Mount Williamson and watching them progress to this. An amazing feat!

We rented them, we used them, we love them. Super steady shots from transitioning heights higher or lower than we achieve. We got ours from Glideshot Industries based out of Florida. These are made to order and we opted for an additional two feet. Although very light, while boxed it was over sized in length and due to vehicle size limitations we never got the chance to use it. Over a month later, a camping trip to Joshua Tree, CA ensued and thus we have a proper vehicle with a proper setting for a review.

As independent cinematographers, it’s always a great pleasure to have the opportunity to work with inspiring individuals. Jin Young a.k.a the Chinaboxer is no different. He has inspired many around the world with his exceptional “Wing Chun” video training lessons, which is offered for free through his Youtube channel. For those of you that aren’t familiar with “Wing Chun”, here’s the short of it:
Wing Chun (Chinese: 詠春; pinyin: yǒng chūn; literally “spring chant”), also romanized as Ving Tsun or Wing Tsun, (and sometimes substituted with the characters 永春 “eternal springtime”[4]); (also known as Snake-Crane style); is a concept-based Chinese martial art and form of self-defense utilizing both striking and grappling while specializing in close-range combat. (sourced from wikipedia.org)
This past Sunday we had the opportunity to assist Jin on taping his featured instructional DVD.
In the meanwhile as you anticipate for the release of the DVD, take some free lessons from Jin here : http://www.youtube.com/user/chinaboxer

We at ‘nineoutof10′ have always been about the community. We grew up here, we live here and some of us are raising our children here. It’s our home…”This city is mine” to quote Andrew Nicholas. After discussing what they had planned for The Vine Gallery, we immediately wanted to be apart of it.
With 12 Artists, it’s only suiting that this event has been titled “A Dozen Roses”, also note that it’s located in Rosemead, CA. Come join us on 10/8 and here’s a chance to pick up some gear, 20% of the proceeds will be donated for Art Scholarship at The Vine. See you guys there.
