As independent cinematographers, it’s always a great pleasure to have the opportunity to work with inspiring individuals. Jin Young a.k.a the Chinaboxer is no different. He has inspired many around the world with his exceptional “Wing Chun” video training lessons, which is offered for free through his Youtube channel. For those of you that aren’t familiar with “Wing Chun”, here’s the short of it:

Wing Chun (Chinese: 詠春; pinyin: yǒng chūn; literally “spring chant”), also romanized as Ving Tsun or Wing Tsun, (and sometimes substituted with the characters 永春 “eternal springtime”[4]); (also known as Snake-Crane style); is a concept-based Chinese martial art and form of self-defense utilizing both striking and grappling while specializing in close-range combat. (sourced from wikipedia.org)

This past Sunday we had the opportunity to assist Jin on taping his featured instructional DVD.
In the meanwhile as you anticipate for the release of the DVD, take some free lessons from Jin here : http://www.youtube.com/user/chinaboxer

We at ‘nineoutof10′ have always been about the community. We grew up here, we live here and some of us are raising our children here. It’s our home…”This city is mine” to quote Andrew Nicholas. After discussing what they had planned for The Vine Gallery, we immediately wanted to be apart of it.

With 12 Artists, it’s only suiting that this event has been titled “A Dozen Roses”, also note that it’s located in Rosemead, CA. Come join us on 10/8 and here’s a chance to pick up some gear, 20% of the proceeds will be donated for Art Scholarship at The Vine. See you guys there.

Back in July we’ve submitted a skit into Still Motion short film contest. Our assignment theme was “Closure” with the freedom to run with the any idea. We had a time limit of 60sec to tell the story. Because of the time constraint the last few frame was shorten down, pause at the end of the facebook comment and you’ll see how we cleverly incorporated “Closure” to this short skit. (We wrote our 1st score on this short film contest!)

Excuse our poor acting, we couldn’t find anyone at the time that was free to participate. Mickey was camera operator on this one, while JDogg and I starred in it.

It’s that time again, 4 years since the cultivation of ‘nineoutof10′. We want to thank each and everyone of you for your loyal support as you allow us to forever grind and to continue our passion. Fast forward to the Future from when the brainchild began in 07 of ‘nineoutof10′, we are grateful for where we are today.

Back in 07 as we had just completed the concept, you take a moment in your meetings and decide on the branding name itself. I’m sure any entrepreneur has been in a similar seat. Of course nothing short of the coolest is what generally comes to mind, additionally we wanted the brand to define who we are. ‘nineoutof10′ is our child and we watch it grow everyday. We put 100% of ourselves into it although the project will not see 100% completion and that’s exactly how we created it.

Looking forward to another fantastic year. Thanks!

Please also take a moment of silence for the 10 year from 9/11.
